Wine review: Abadia Retuerta 2007 Rivola Sardon de Duero

rivolaSupply and demand rules the wine world too… the best deals on tasty wine right now are coming from unknown regions, like Sardon de Duero in Spain. This take-no-prisoners tempranillo-cabernet sauvignon blend from the modern, rising-star winery of Abadia Retuerta truly astounds with its quality-price ratio. But although it is pretty ballsy, the tannins are smooth and understated enough that they don’t overwhelm the senses. Loaded with bright red fruit like raspberry, cherry and strawberry, mild oakiness, slight earthiness and well-balanced acidity. Very easy-going and dangerously easy to enjoy.
