A darling of the critics for a few years now, this Los Alamos Malbec from Argentina’s Mendoza region has one great thing going for it: It costs under $12, sometimes even under $10. It’s a bit astringent and young but it offers everything you’d want in a friendly, everyday drinking malbec. Medium-bodied and bright with robust black cherry, blackberry and vanilla oak. Has some leathery tannins that will soften slightly if you let it sit in your glass a bit.
