Tampa Bay restaurant news and deals

old restaurant sceneA round-up on the past two week’s worth of news and new grub deals.

  • Restaurant opening: New barbecue joint opened on North Armenia in Tampa, Holy Hog Barbecue. Brisket, pulled pork and ribs? I’m there.
  • Restaurant opening: Twisted Cork opened this past weekend in St. Pete. It’s located at 3405 34th St. N.
  • Restaurant opening: Pastabar, across from Baywalk in St. Pete (former location of L’Olivier Bistro), opened yesterday. They serve pasta (big shock), sandwiches, salads and appetizers for lunch and dinner.
  • Restaurant deal: Fly Bar and Restaurant in downtown Tampa offers half-priced appetizers during Mug Club on Thursday nights from 10 pm ‘til closing.
  • Restaurant closure: Teatro on Seventh, a restaurant in Tampa’s Centro Ybor complex, recently closed its doors. Really a shame that gorgeous space will go empty.
  • Restaurant deal: Every Monday night, The Rack in Hyde Park serves up all-you-can-eat crab legs from 6-10 p.m. for $22.95.
  • Restaurant deal: 717 South in Hyde Park has a 3-course meal deal for $25 until May 8th, including their tasty Asian Pot Roast and Miso and Sake Catch of the Day.
  • Restaurant news: According to the St. Pete Times, Primi Urban Café in downtown St. Pete has a new chef.
  • Mother’s Day dining options, compiled by Laura Reiley at the St. Pete Times: Post #1 and Post #2
