Live in Tampa and want to expand your wine knowledge? Armed with some insight, you can confidently peruse a wine list or shop. VinoVersity is my series of wine classes, held at Tampa’s food and wine Mecca, the newly remodeled Datz Foodie’s Market and Loft Bar in South Tampa. I teach wine on an approachable, fun, down-to-earth level — much like the anti-wine-snob events I’ve been hosting with Tampa Bay Uncorked for years — by removing the snooty stigma. Who needs all the fancy tasting talk when trash talking is more fun? One class each month and every class features 6 wines, instruction, handouts and cheeses, paired with the wines. And each one only costs $25 per person.

Alternative Summer White Wines
White wine is often viewed as a beginner’s beverage, but it shouldn’t be, especially in Tampa’s August heat! In this class, I’ll introduce six thirst-quenching, white varietals that will ignite new summer loves, from Albariño to Grüner Veltliner. Refreshingly different. And don’t forget each wine is paired with a distinctive cheese from Datz. $25, includes wines, cheeses and class instruction.
