Cooking with Fruit, part 2:
Homemade Burger Patties with Fresh Lime Juice
Serves 4 – 5
1 16 to 20 oz. package lean ground beef
1 Tablespoon fresh thyme
Ground white pepper, to taste
Kosher salt, to taste
Remove ground beef from packaging and place it into a bowl. Slice lime in half and squeeze the juice of both halves onto the beef. Add fresh thyme, pepper and salt as desired. Mixed all ingredients together with a fork, or a cook’s best tools: clean hands. Cover and let sit for 15-20 minutes to incorporate all of the flavors. You can even cover with plastic wrap and let it marinate overnight to really let the lime and spices soak in.
Heat an outdoor or indoor grill to medium-high heat. Separate ground beef mixture out into 4-oz. patties (should yield 4 to 5). Place patties onto the grill and cook about 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
Serve it alone, atop a salad, or on your favorite burger bun, and enjoy!
Need a non-alcoholic alternative to serve with it?
My new favorite drink: Take the juice of half of a lemon and add it to a drinking glass. Add one packet Stevia, ice, and pour a bottle of San Pellegrino over it. Refreshing, and adds a little twist to your everyday water. I’ve also added different fruits, like fresh raspberries or blueberries to the bottom of the glass, and mash them up for a more infused flavor.
