I will admit I’m biased… this Spanish sparkler is made by a friend of mine, Paul Clear, who lives in Tampa. But he became my friend after I tasted his wines, so maybe I’m not biased and more of a groupie? I admire the cajones it took to travel over to Spain (several times), chasing a dream of making wines that people can enjoy as well as afford. A noble effort that he succeeded at (read about it). His first effort was Palarea 2005 Tinto, a red wine blend and the second, this Cava, made from a traditional blend of native Spanish grape varieties.
It’s not super complex, but definitely light, fun and floral. Has some strawberry and bubblegum going on, followed by a fruity, citrusy finish. Great price too.
